Palestinian teen amputees receive prosthetic care in Jordan

Dozens of young Palestinians who suffered amputations during the conflict in Gaza are receiving medical care, prosthetic limbs, and psychological support at a center in Amman, Jordan. The initiative is run by the Restoring Hope Society, which facilitates the transfer of patients from the Gaza Strip to the facility.

Among those receiving care is 15-year-old Mahmoud Abou Nusair, who lost his leg below the knee after being struck by a bullet while searching for firewood in Deir al-Balah. He described the difficulty of navigating Gaza’s decimated healthcare system and the emotional toll of his injury.

Another patient, 17-year-old Zuhdi Abou Shanab, lost his right leg following a strike that occurred while he was out buying groceries. The center in Amman provides physiotherapy and social assistance to help more than 450 amputees manage the long-term consequences of their injuries.
