Palghar: 250 residents evacuated after partial building collapse
Approximately 250 residents were safely evacuated from Roshni Apartments in Nalasopara, located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, after portions of the four-storey building collapsed on Saturday afternoon.
The incident, which occurred around 12:30 pm, reportedly began when a second-floor balcony caved in, falling onto the first floor and subsequently causing the ground floor to collapse under the weight. No injuries were reported during the incident, as the building's 56 flats were quickly evacuated by fire brigade personnel, local police, and officials from the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC).
The remaining structure has been sealed due to its precarious condition. Civic authorities plan to inspect the site to determine if the building requires demolition or stabilization. Displaced residents, many of whom are women, children, and the elderly, have been moved to temporary relief camps where essential supplies are being provided.
