Palghar, Maharashtra hit by two 3.4-magnitude earthquakes

Two earthquakes, each measuring 3.4 magnitude, struck the Palghar district of Maharashtra within one hour on Monday night. The first tremor occurred at 10:04 p.m., followed by a second of the same magnitude at 11:00 p.m. Both seismic events were recorded at a depth of 5 km.

Local officials and the Palghar district administration reported no casualties, injuries, or structural damage resulting from the tremors. While the quick succession of the earthquakes caused concern among residents, disaster management teams are currently monitoring the situation.

The Palghar district, located approximately 100 km from Mumbai, is recognized as a seismically sensitive area that has experienced recurring low-magnitude tremors in recent weeks and years.
