Palić Opens 33rd European Film Festival on July 18

The 33rd edition of the European Film Festival Palić began with an opening ceremony on Saturday, 18 July, at 21:00 on the Summer Stage in Palić, Serbia. The ceremony featured the presentation of the Aleksandar Lifka award for outstanding contribution to European cinema, which was given to Hungarian director Kornel Mundruć in the foreign creators category.

Following the ceremony, audiences were invited to view a slate of new films, including Simon Verhoeven’s German drama “Ah ta praznina, ta strašna praznina,” and Julia de Pas’s Spanish film “Dobra ćerka” about three generations of women. The competition program also showcased works from Serbia, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Estonia, Belgium and other European countries, with titles such as “Čuvar ikone Svetog Đorđa,” “Elenina promena,” “Kao kod kuće,” “Kinesko more,” “Mo Papa,” “Nesrećna majka,” and “Nino u raju.” Additional selections in the “Paralele i sudari” section highlighted productions from the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Norway and Latvia.

The festival’s programme also includes sections titled Young Spirit of Europe, New Hungarian Film, Germany in Focus, New European Documentaries, Eco Dox, tributes to previous award winners, and short‑film showcases, offering a broad showcase of contemporary European cinema.
