Palio di Asti festivities begin in Nizza Monferrato and San Damiano d’Asti

The Palio di Asti festivities are underway in the Piedmont region, with Nizza Monferrato and San Damiano d’Asti hosting various cultural and preparatory events leading up to the main race on Sunday, September 6.

In Nizza Monferrato, the community is preparing for the Palio with a weekend of activities including the ‘Cena Giallorossa’ on September 5 and a parade through the historic center on the morning of the race. This year’s historical procession features the theme ‘Medieval Medicine, Balance of the Four Humors,’ focusing on 13th-century medical science. The local group will also hold a blessing for the horse and jockey.

San Damiano d’Asti is celebrating ‘Settembre Sandamianese,’ which includes the San Damiano Summer Festival running from September 2 to September 6. The schedule features musical performances, gastronomic stands, and traditional events such as the blessing of the jockey and historical parades, all centered around the upcoming Palio di Asti competition.
