Palio di Asti preparations begin in Piazza Alfieri
Preparations for the Palio di Asti are underway in Piazza Alfieri. Setup operations began on August 9, with phased construction affecting local traffic and parking. Piazza Alfieri is scheduled for a complete traffic closure starting August 25.
To manage the historical Carroccio, the Asti municipality has partnered with the Associazione ricreativa culturale cooperativa 2.0 based in Viggianello, Basilicata. This collaboration includes a 9,000 euro contribution to cover logistics, including the transport and care of six oxen required to pull the ceremonial vehicle. The agreement also ensures the presence of a dedicated veterinarian and eight specialized workers. Additionally, the municipality has stipulated that a live white rooster will be provided as a prize for the fourth-place finisher in the race.
