Palio di Asti: Puligheddu likely to replace injured Tittia for Nizza Monferrato

Preparations for the Palio di Asti, scheduled for September 6, 2025, are entering a decisive phase. A significant change has occurred in the lineup for Nizza Monferrato following an injury to jockey Giovanni Atzeni, known as Tittia. Atzeni is recovering from a fall sustained during the Palio dell’Assunta in Siena on August 18.

Reports indicate that Nizza Monferrato is considering Gabriele Puligheddu, known as Granito, as a replacement. While not yet officially confirmed, the move would provide the young Sardinian jockey with a major opportunity following his recent debut in the Palio di Siena.

Other confirmed participants for the event include Michel Putzu for Don Bosco, Antonio Francesco Mula for San Secondo, Marco Bitti for the Cattedrale, and Carlo Sanna for San Pietro. Other contestants include Adrian Topalli for Santa Caterina, Federico Arri for Tanaro, Gavino Sanna for Moncalvo, Francesco Caria for Castell’Alfero, Andrea Sanna for Santa Maria Nuova, and Giuseppe Zedde for San Lazzaro.
