Palito Ortega's influence resurfaces in Argentine pop and theater

The cultural landscape in Argentina is seeing a unique intersection between classic pop icons and contemporary artists. The musical duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso have released a new single, ‘Ha Ha (A COLORS SHOW)’, which incorporates onomatopoeic samples from Palito Ortega’s 1967 track ‘La Felicidad’.

This musical influence extends into the theatrical realm with Guillermo Cacace’s production of ‘A mamá’, a vernacular adaptation of a Greek tragedy performed at the Centro Cultural Borges. The play utilizes Palito Ortega’s 1972 song ‘La sonrisa de mamá’ during a climactic scene, illustrating the enduring and multifaceted presence of Ortega’s work in modern Argentine pop and theater.
