Palm oil prices fluctuate in North Sumatra and Riau

Palm oil fresh fruit bunch (TBS) prices for plasma partner farmers in North Sumatra and Riau have shown diverging trends for the September 2026 periods.

In North Sumatra, prices for the period of September 9–15, 2026, increased across all plant age groups. For trees aged 10–20 years, the price rose to Rp4,079.09 per kg, an increase of Rp22.77 per kg from the previous period. The price determination was based on crude palm oil (CPO) and kernel prices obtained from local companies.

Conversely, in Riau, the price for the period of September 16–22, 2026, was set at Rp3,976.56 per kg. This represents a decrease driven primarily by a drop in CPO prices. The Riau Plantation Service noted that while kernel prices rose, the decline in CPO outweighed this, leading to a price reduction for farmers.
