Palm Springs bicyclist in critical condition after vehicle collision
A bicyclist remains in critical condition following a collision with a vehicle in Palm Springs on Sunday night, October 11, 2026. The Palm Springs Police Department reported the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. near North Sunrise Way and East Vista Chino as the cyclist attempted to cross the street.
The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. Investigators stated that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, noting that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incident.
This accident follows another fatal bicycle collision in the area on October 5, where a cyclist was killed near East Palm Canyon Drive and Cherokee Way. While Lt. Michael Torres noted that collisions involving cyclists and pedestrians have decreased in 2026 compared to 2025, police are urging increased vigilance from both drivers and cyclists as daylight hours shorten.
