Palm Sugar: A Village Story RPG released for PC

Monotusk Studios has released Palm Sugar: A Village Story, a narrative pixel art RPG inspired by the culture and landscapes of South India. Published by 1312 Interactive, the game is currently available for PC on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, with future plans for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The story follows Seenu, a young man from the fictional village of Bellampakam. The narrative shifts from a peaceful life of pursuing romance to a struggle for survival after a local drug cartel takes control of the region. Players explore various landscapes, interact with villagers through dialogue-heavy sequences, and engage in combat using rural tools such as axes, sticks, and slingshots.

Director Kartheek Raj stated that the goal of the project is to present South Indian culture through Seenu’s personal journey. The game features puzzles based on item exchange and character interaction, set against a soundtrack inspired by the region.
