Palm tree maintenance and training initiatives in Spain and Mexico

Various regions are implementing initiatives focused on the maintenance and professional care of palm trees.

In Villa de Mazo, Spain, the local government is offering a specialized training course from September 14 to 17. The program, certified by the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Agriculture, covers pruning, maintenance, conservation, and safety techniques for working at heights. The course aims to provide residents with specific technical knowledge to improve employment opportunities in this sector.

In Torreón, Mexico, municipal public services are conducting maintenance on more than 400 palm trees along Paseo Morelos. The project, which is approximately halfway complete, involves a team of 19 palm specialists and 14 collection workers. The efforts focus on improving urban aesthetics and mitigating safety risks by removing dry leaves and branches that could fall on pedestrians or vehicles during high winds.
