Palma driver hits scooter user during illegal overtaking

The Palma Local Police are investigating a traffic accident in the Son Rapinya neighborhood that occurred on October 21. A driver attempted to overtake a vehicle that had stopped at a pedestrian crossing by crossing a continuous line.

During the illegal maneuver, the driver struck a young woman who was crossing the street on an electric scooter. The impact caused the victim to fall onto the asphalt, resulting in abrasions to both knees. Emergency services treated her at the scene before she was transported to a clinic for further medical evaluation.

Police officers from the Accident Vehicle Unit (UVAC) conducted an investigation at the scene. Witnesses and ocular inspections confirmed the driver failed to notice the preceding vehicle was yielding to the scooter user. Authorities noted that neither driver showed signs of alcohol consumption.
