Leire Díez files lawsuit against PP over AI-generated video
Former socialist activist Leire Díez has filed a lawsuit against the People's Party (PP) before the National Court. The legal action follows the publication of a video created using Artificial Intelligence that uses Díez's likeness and voice to falsely claim she hired “thugs to get rid of a judge.”
The video refers to Magistrate Beatriz Biedma, who has been investigating the case involving David Sánchez. Díez's legal counsel, Eva Bejarano, alleges that the video constitutes crimes of slander with publicity, attacks on moral integrity, and digital identity impersonation. The defense argues the video was intentionally designed to “humiliate, mock, and cause grave damage to the dignity” of the client.
Díez has requested precautionary measures to ensure the provisional removal of the video from all digital platforms under the control of the PP. The lawsuit also mentions that the video was part of an electoral strategy and included other PSOE figures through AI-generated avatars.
