Palmas man arrested for assaulting child inside hospital

A 34-year-old man was arrested in flagrante at the Hospital Geral de Palmas (HGP) in Tocantins after being caught physically and verbally assaulting his 5-year-old son.

The incident occurred while the child was receiving medical treatment at the facility. Hospital staff witnessed the aggression and recorded a video in which the child stated, “Meu pai me bate” (My father hits me). Following the incident, the Military Police were called to the scene, and the man was taken to the Civil Police Service Center.

The father has been charged with the crime of mistreatment. The child remains under medical care at the HGP, with the Tutelary Council and the child's grandmother involved in the ongoing protection and assistance process.
