Palmas mayor proposes pension institute staffing plan and launches youth football tournament

Mayor Eduardo Siqueira Campos of Palmas submitted a bill to the municipal council that would create a career plan for the city’s pension institute, Previpalmas. The proposal establishes 40 permanent positions, defines salary ranges, promotion criteria and a dedicated medical board, and is intended to enable a new public competition for the institute after an 18‑year wait. Council president Daniel Souza Aguiar said the plan “guarantees the qualification of the workforce and improves service delivery.”

The municipal government, through the Secretariat of Youth and Sports, also opened the second edition of the Taça Cidade de Palmas football tournament on August 10. The competition involves 36 teams and roughly 1,200 young athletes across five age categories, with matches held at several city fields. Secretary Rivaldo Azevedo da Silva highlighted the event’s role in promoting sport and integration among the city’s youth.
