Palmas to distribute glucose sensors for youth with Type 1 diabetes

The Municipal Health Secretariat of Palmas (Semus) will begin distributing glucose sensors to children and adolescents diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The program targets insulin-dependent patients aged 4 to 17 residing in the capital.

Deliveries through the Unified Health System (SUS) are expected to begin in late September. Each patient will receive two sensors per month, with each device lasting approximately 14 days. These sensors allow for continuous glucose monitoring, reducing the need for frequent finger-prick tests.

To access the benefit, parents or guardians must visit their reference Family Health Unit (USF) with required documentation, including the patient's SUS card, identification, proof of residence, school enrollment verification, and an updated medical report confirming the diagnosis and need for insulin therapy and sensors.
