Palmdale hardware store employee confronts suspected shoplifter

Surveillance video from an Ace Hardware store in Palmdale, California, captured a four-month pregnant employee confronting a man suspected of attempting to steal a 46-pound air-conditioning unit.

The incident began inside the Rancho Vista Plaza location and moved into the parking lot and street. The suspect allegedly attempted to load the unit into a van after tripping while running from the store. The employee reportedly wrestled the item away from the man, stating she acted on instinct.

Store manager Carlos Morales noted that the location has seen an increase in theft, leading to heightened security measures such as keeping merchandise behind locks. While some have criticized the employee for the physical risk she took, Morales expressed appreciation for her actions.
