Palmeira dos Índios expands rural water supply with artesian wells

The City Hall of Palmeira dos Índios is expanding water security measures in its rural areas through the implementation of artesian wells. Recent installations in communities such as Gavião de Cima and Caldeirão are already operational, providing a flow of approximately 10,000 liters of water per hour.

These projects are being carried out through partnerships between the municipal government, the Rural Workers Union, FACOMPI, and the National Department of Works Against Droughts (DNOCS). The initiative aims to provide a permanent water supply for domestic consumption, livestock, and agricultural activities, particularly to mitigate the effects of drought periods.

To date, wells have been drilled in several communities, including Funil, Pedra, Lagoa dos Veados, Lagoa do Algodão, Coruripe da Cal, Jiquiri, Caraíbas Tortas, São José de Cima, Uruçu, Logrador, Mandacaru de Cima, Mandacaru do Meio, and Alto Vermelho Velho.
