Palmeira dos Índios residents to protest for justice after athlete's death

The family of Ruan Wilson, a 15-year-old jiu-jitsu athlete, has organized a public demonstration in Palmeira dos Índios to demand justice following his death. Wilson died on August 25 after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a pedestrian crossing in the Tabuleiro dos Martins neighborhood of Maceió.

The mobilization, scheduled for Saturday, includes a memorial mass at the Church of São Cristóvão followed by a tribute at Unicompra. Organizers are calling on the community, particularly athletes, cyclists, and motorcyclists, to join the event to show solidarity with the family and pressure authorities for answers regarding the circumstances of the accident and the accountability of the driver involved.
