Palmeiras develops youth prodigy Gustagol while negotiating Gustavo Gómez’s transfer

Nine‑year‑old forward Gustavo Santana Rosa, known as “Gustagol”, impressed with two titles in the DaniCup and IberCup while playing for Palmeiras’ youth side. Because Brazilian law bars professional contracts for players under 16, his future with the club will be decided after January 2027, though Palmeiras is monitoring his progress closely.

Palmeiras is also handling talks over captain defender Gustavo Gómez. River Plate has shown interest, but the Brazilian club reportedly asked US $12 million for 50 % of Gómez’s economic rights, a figure River deemed high. Palmeiras has not confirmed any formal approach, while it plans to extend Gómez’s contract for at least two more seasons after the World Cup.
