Palmeiras excludes goalkeeper Kate Tapia from Libertadores Feminina

Palmeiras has excluded Colombian goalkeeper Kate Tapia from its roster for the CONMEBOL Libertadores Feminina in Quito, Ecuador, citing disciplinary reasons. The club stated that while Tapia was granted permission to travel to Colombia to attend to family matters involving her father, she departed before the agreed-upon date without formal consent.

Tapia, a key player for the team, responded via social media, stating she had communicated her intention to the sports management to advance her trip by one day. She explained the need to reunite with her family before reporting to the Colombian national team for upcoming matches. The athlete expressed sadness over being informed of her exclusion through a team messaging group rather than a personal conversation.

Despite the disciplinary action, Tapia remains under contract with Palmeiras until the end of the season. The club's decision leaves the team without its starting goalkeeper for the continental tournament.
