Palmeiras faces offensive decline and budget shortfall
Palmeiras is facing challenges in both sporting performance and financial management. On the pitch, the club has seen a decline in offensive efficiency, with its shot accuracy dropping to 10.2% in the second half of the year. This brings its annual average to 11.3%, trailing behind rivals like Flamengo, who maintain a 12.7% efficiency rate. This lack of clinical finishing is cited as a key factor in the club's recent struggles in the national championship standings.
Financially, the club is currently operating 36% below its projected budget. As of July, Palmeiras reported R$ 494.424 million in net operating revenue, falling short of the R$ 772.396 million forecasted for the same period. While matchday revenue exceeded expectations by 5.2%, other key areas underperformed. Sponsorship and advertising revenue reached R$ 126.820 million, approximately 17.9% below the budget, and the Avanti membership program collected R$ 41.340 million, which is 15.2% lower than planned.
