Palmeiras forward Flaco López to rejoin club after World Cup

Argentine striker Flaco López, who featured for Argentina in the recent FIFA World Cup where the team finished as runners‑up, is scheduled to return to Palmeiras next week. López appeared in two World Cup matches – against Jordan and Switzerland – and provided an assist in the 3‑1 quarter‑final win over Switzerland.

Palmeiras are assessing his fitness through the club’s health and performance department. While his initial return was planned for the Copa do Brasil round‑of‑16 match against Fortaleza on 2 August, the club is considering an earlier debut in the Brazilian league match against Vitória on 29 July. If he is not cleared for the Vitória fixture, he will miss the upcoming games against Atlético‑MG and may still be unavailable for the Fortaleza tie.

López’s return comes after a brief rest period following Argentina’s 1‑0 loss to Spain in the World Cup final. He last played for Palmeiras on 28 May, contributing two assists in a 4‑1 Libertadores group‑stage win over Junior Barranquilla.
