Palmeiras hails Jhon Arias' World Cup impact and plans his July return

Colombian forward Jhon Arias scored the decisive goal in Colombia's 1‑0 win over Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, helping his nation reach the round of 16. He also featured in all five Colombian matches, netting once and contributing to the team's overall play. After the tournament, Arias is scheduled to travel back to Brazil on July 15, following a brief rest period, to rejoin Palmeiras, the club that signed him in early 2026. Palmares will face Coritiba on July 22 in the Brazilian league.

Palmeiras also celebrated a historic World Cup moment as two of its players, Arias and Paraguayan striker Mauricio, scored in the same edition – a first for the club. With a record seven Palmeiras players participating for various national teams, the club sees the exposure as a boost for its brand and future talent recruitment.
