Palmeiras manages heavy schedule and FIFA break

Palmeiras is navigating a demanding period during the FIFA international break, managing a squad depleted by 11 national team call-ups. To compensate, the club has integrated youth players, including U-20 captain Pimenta, into professional training sessions to gain experience alongside veterans like Marlon Freitas and Barboza.

Head coach Abel Ferreira is preparing the squad for a heavy schedule that could see the club play up to 75 matches this season if they reach the finals of the Copa do Brasil and CONMEBOL Libertadores. The team currently holds the best overall performance rate among Série A clubs in 2026, with a 69% success rate across all competitions.

The club is working to reintegrate international players, including Gustavo Gómez, Piquerez, and Emiliano Martínez, ahead of their upcoming match against Bahia on October 8. The technical staff is prioritizing physical recovery to manage the high volume of matches and the potential for a quadruple trophy season.
