Palmeiras hosts Bahia in high-stakes Brasileirão clash

Palmeiras and Bahia face each other in the 29th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Nubank Parque. The match is a high-stakes encounter for both clubs: Palmeiras sits in second place with 57 points, trailing leader Flamengo by three, while Bahia holds fifth place with 46 points, aiming for a direct Libertadores spot.

Palmeiras enters the match under significant pressure. Following a recent draw against Grêmio, the team has seen a dip in performance. Additionally, head coach Abel Ferreira is suspended by the STJD and will not be on the sidelines. The squad is also managing the return of several players from international duty, including Agustín Giay, Jhon Arias, and Flaco López.

Bahia, led by Rogério Ceni, arrives after a recent loss to Athletico-PR that ended a four-game winning streak. Unlike Palmeiras, Bahia has a healthy squad with no major absences or suspensions. The match also carries historical significance, as Palmeiras seeks to reach its 100th goal in head-to-head matchups against Bahia.
