Palmeiras midfield transfer interests shift following failed Ederson move

Atalanta has reportedly lost interest in acquiring Palmeiras midfielder Mauricio. The change in stance follows the collapse of a deal for Atalanta's Ederson to transfer to Manchester United. While a deal for Ederson was previously discussed at approximately £40 million, Manchester United withdrew after medical examinations conducted in July revealed physical concerns.

Previously, Atalanta had signaled an interest in Mauricio with a potential offer of €18 million, a move intended to free up a foreign player slot in the squad following Ederson's expected departure. Palmeiras had indicated a willingness to negotiate at that valuation, but the failed United transfer has altered the Italian club's plans.

Meanwhile, Palmeiras continues to seek reinforcements for its midfield. After potential options such as Danilo and Fabinho became unfeasible, the club is reportedly considering Gustavo Puerta from Racing as an alternative.
