Palmeiras negotiates exit for player accused of domestic violence

Palmeiras is negotiating the departure of U-20 midfielder Felipe Teresa following accusations of domestic violence. The club has already suspended the player after his former partner, Marcelle Barbosa, alleged he assaulted her with punches and kicks during a trip in August while their two children were present in the vehicle.

An undisclosed Arab club has reportedly made a loan offer for the player with an option to purchase. To facilitate a potential permanent transfer, Palmeiras may extend Teresa's current contract, which runs until September 2027, to the end of 2028.

Club leadership considered terminating the contract for cause but opted against it due to legal concerns regarding potential indemnity claims from the player. Legal advisors suggested that if a settlement is reached between Teresa and Barbosa, a dismissal for cause could lead to litigation against the club. Teresa has stated on social media that the facts will be clarified in court.
