CONMEBOL finalizes stadium logistics for continental semifinals
CONMEBOL has held meetings in Luque, Paraguay, to finalize logistics for the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
In the Libertadores, Estudiantes and Flamengo reached an agreement to play the first leg at Estádio Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata. To meet CONMEBOL’s requirement of 4,000 visiting supporters, Estudiantes will repurpose a section of the stadium that holds up to 6,000 people. Meanwhile, the Palmeiras and Fluminense semifinal faces has seen progress after the São Paulo Public Ministry recommended increasing the visiting capacity at Nubank Parque to 4,000. This recommendation awaits final approval from the Military Police and the Fire Department regarding safety protocols.
Regarding the Copa Sudamericana, CONMEBOL confirmed that the final will take place on November 21 at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla, Colombia. Despite requests from Atlético Mineiro to change the venue due to logistical and financial concerns, the location remains unchanged.
Financial reports also highlight the significant prize money accumulated by semifinalists. In the Libertadores, Flamengo leads with USD 9.61 million, followed by Palmeiras (USD 9.27 million), while Estudiantes and Fluminense have each secured USD 8.93 million. In the Sudamericana, Vasco da Gama leads the semifinalists with USD 3.87 million.
