Argentina’s national team will face Spain in the 2026 World Cup final in New York‑New Jersey. Forward Flaco López, who plays for Brazil’s Palmeiras, is in Argentina’s squad and could become the first player from a Brazilian club to lift the trophy since Brazil’s 2002 victory. The last Brazilian‑club player to win was goalkeeper Marcos, also of Palmeiras, during the pentacampeonato.

López, signed by Palmeiras in 2022, contributed to Argentina’s run, including an assist in the quarter‑final win over Switzerland. If Argentina wins, López would break a 24‑year gap and add a new chapter to Palmeiras’ World Cup history, joining a list of club alumni who have previously won the tournament while representing Brazil.
