Palmela Medieval Fair to feature astronomy activities

The Palmela Medieval Fair is scheduled to take place from September 25 to 27. This year's edition focuses on the theme ‘Palmela, D. Afonso IV and the Order of Santiago (1340-1348)’.

As part of the event, several astronomy-related activities will be offered. These include night sky observation sessions at the Pousada de Palmela on September 25 and September 27. Additionally, a workshop titled ‘Cosmolabs Medieval’ will be held at the Sacristy of the Church of Santa Maria on September 27, where participants can learn about the construction and use of sundials as timekeeping instruments during the Middle Ages.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Arrábida Biosphere Reserve, 20 free entries will be made available for the September 27 observation session via registration through the Palmela Municipal Council tourism email.
