Palmi officials under investigation after theatre ceiling collapse

Authorities in Palmi have concluded preliminary investigations regarding a ceiling collapse at the Manfroce Municipal Theatre. The incident occurred on February 1, 2026, during a performance of ‘Il Circo di Pinocchio,’ resulting in injuries to several attendees.

Two members of the municipal administration are under investigation for the alleged omission of necessary interventions to remove hazards posed by the structure's ceiling. The investigation, led by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Local Police, examined maintenance records, safety supervision, and the organization of the event. Investigators also reviewed assessments from the Fire Brigade and medical documentation related to the victims.
