Palu police reconstruct family murder case

Police in Palu, Central Sulawesi, conducted a 34-scene reconstruction of a murder case involving the killing of an entire family. The suspect, Aan Kurniawan, reenacted the events to clarify the sequence of the crime, which took place at a chicken slaughterhouse in the Duyu sub-district on July 26, 2026.

The victims were identified as Jamil, his wife Nurhanisa, and their two-year-old child. The reconstruction, which required 150 police personnel for security, included scenes of the suspect intercepting the victims on a motorcycle, entering their home, and the subsequent assault.

According to Wakapolresta Palu AKBP Muhammad Ilham, the preliminary motive appears to be the suspect's resentment toward the victims. While the reconstruction matched previous statements from the suspect, investigators are still searching for the victims' missing mobile phone. The case is now moving toward the prosecution stage.
