Malcolm-Jamal Warner estate dispute reaches tentative settlement

A tentative settlement has been reached in the legal dispute over the estate of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who died at age 54 in July 2025. Pamela Warner, the actor's mother, announced that an agreement has been made with representatives for Malcolm-Jamal’s 9-year-old daughter. The settlement, which awaits court approval, reportedly grants the child the majority of the remaining trust and estate.

The legal conflict intensified after Malcolm-Jamal’s widow, Tenisha Warner, filed a lawsuit seeking over $1.2 million. Tenisha alleged that her late husband failed to fulfill obligations outlined in their 2022 premarital agreement, including the failure to secure a $1 million life insurance policy naming her as the sole beneficiary.

Pamela Warner has denied claims that she attempted to withhold financial support from her granddaughter, stating that Malcolm-Jamal had made separate provisions for his wife and daughter amounting to millions of dollars outside of the primary trust.
