PAMI healthcare providers warn of unsustainable service crisis
The Argentine Confederation of Health Service Providers (CAPS) has warned that the continuity of medical services provided through PAMI is at risk due to insufficient fee updates. According to a statement from CAPS, fee increases in 2026 have reached only 9% at best, with some services receiving no updates at all, while inflation reached 21.3% as of August.
Providers report a significant gap between reimbursement rates and rising costs. Between December 2023 and July 2026, PAMI fee updates totaled 110.55%, compared to an inflation rate of 241%. CAPS stated that institutions have been forced to use their own resources to cover increases in salaries, medications, supplies, and general expenses.
Negotiations are currently ongoing with the health workers' union, the Federation of Argentine Health Workers Associations (FATSA). However, providers claim they have received no confirmation from PAMI authorities regarding the magnitude or schedule of upcoming fee updates, which they describe as a necessary condition for supporting new salary recompositions.
