Pamplona approves new urban elevator for Casco Antiguo

The Pamplona Local Government Board has approved the tender for a new urban elevator in the Casco Antiguo district to address a 4.21-meter elevation change. The project, with a maximum budget of 187,765 euros, aims to improve accessibility between Calderería Street and Plaza de Compañía, specifically benefiting students and patients near the local health center and the Official Language School.

The panoramic elevator will have a capacity of eight people and a maximum load of 630 kilograms. Due to its location within a classified archaeological zone, the construction will be subject to strict oversight by the General Directorate of Culture. Initial works will involve archaeological surveys, and any findings must be reported to the Historical Heritage Service of the Government of Navarra.

The project involves structural support over the well of the former Casa de Baños, which operated in the area until the building was demolished in 1978. Construction is expected to begin in February and last approximately four months.
