Pamplona City Council holds final legislative debate amid electoral tension

The Pamplona City Council held its final 'Debate on the State of the City' for the current legislature, characterized by intense political friction and electoral posturing ahead of upcoming local and regional elections.

Mayor Joseba Asiron (EH Bildu) defended his administration, claiming that his government has implemented approximately 90% of its programmatic agreement. Asiron framed the 2023 motion of censure as a necessary remedy to a period of political, economic, and institutional paralysis caused by previous right-wing governments, which he accused of improvisation and disregard for majorities.

Opposition spokespersons from UPN and PP criticized the current administration, accusing the Mayor of fleeing municipal responsibilities.
