Pamporovo emergency road to implement one-way traffic

Local authorities and business owners in Smolyan have agreed to implement a one-way traffic schedule on the emergency road above the landslide area in Pamporovo for the upcoming winter season.

Following a meeting convened by Smolyan Mayor Nikolay Melemov, the new traffic schedule dictates that travel will be permitted from Smolyan toward Pamporovo between 6:00 and 13:00, and in the opposite direction from 13:30 to 6:00. Officials determined that installing traffic lights is not a suitable solution at this stage.

The municipality has committed to asphalt paving a section of the road, noting that approximately 300,000 euros are required for full paving. Regional Governor Georgi Pelanov assured participants that the state will provide a new snow-clearing machine to remain in the area throughout the winter. Additionally, Marin Kushev, Director of the Regional Road Management in Smolyan, announced that plans are in place to reinforce 70 collapsed sections in the region, including priority areas on the Stoyki-Pamporovo route, to ensure they are ready before the winter season.
