Pan African School Games begins in Lagos for 400 student-athletes
The second Pan African School Games has commenced at James Hope College in Lagos, Nigeria. The three-day competition features approximately 400 student-athletes participating in athletics, swimming, and football across Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 categories.
Organizers Seun Akinbohun, Busola Tejumola, and Aderoju Ope-Ajayi designed the initiative to integrate sporting excellence with educational and career development. The event aims to provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents to scouts, agents, and academic institutions, potentially opening doors to international scholarships.
Prizes for the competition include a new school bus sponsored by Mikano Changan Motors. Following an inaugural edition in 2025 that hosted 11 schools, the organizers have rebranded the event from the Africa School Games to the Pan African School Games to reflect broader continental ambitions.
