Pan-Amazon Network launches bioeconomy policy platform

The Pan-Amazon Network for Bioeconomy has launched ‘Radar Bioecon’, a new platform designed to centralize and coordinate information on bioeconomy initiatives across the Pan-Amazon region. The tool maps at least 232 public policies, programs, and instruments spanning nine countries and territories: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

The platform includes national bioeconomy strategies, credit mechanisms, public procurement, production incentives, and support for community enterprises. It aims to facilitate regional cooperation by allowing governments to consult and compare initiatives to identify shareable experiences. Analysts note that the region's productive potential is currently hindered by a lack of government integration, limited access to credit, and implementation obstacles.

In the Brazilian Legal Amazon, just 13 socio-biodiversity products, such as açaí and Brazil nuts, contribute at least R$ 12 billion annually to the GDP. The Radar Bioecon platform will be presented during the 17th United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia.
