Pan American Deaf Sports Championships see success for Mexico and Cuba

The Pan American Deaf Sports Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, saw significant performances from the Mexican and Cuban delegations.

Mexico secured a total of 20 medals, consisting of nine gold, six silver, and five bronze. Notable achievements included Gilberto Castillo and Freya Danae Nieves winning gold in the 200 meters, Erick Karin Ríos Cisneros winning the men's 10,000 meters, and Lucia Amador winning the women's 10,000 meters. The mixed 4x100m relay team also secured a first-place finish.

Representing Cuba, athletes from the Sancti Spíritus province achieved a high medal count despite a small delegation. Ania Adriana Salvia Campos won one gold and three silver medals in chess, while Gustavo Manuel Martínez Hernández earned gold in shot put and silver in javelin during the youth games, as well as additional medals in the senior athletics open.
