Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships begin in Oshawa

The Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships are taking place at the Oshawa Civic Fields in Ontario, Canada. The tournament features sixteen teams, divided into eight men’s and eight women’s competitions, and serves as a critical first step in the qualification process for the LA28 Olympic Games.

In the men’s tournament, the top five finishers will advance to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs, which acts as the primary qualifier for the Olympics. The competition is organized into two pools; Pool A includes Chile, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the United States, while Pool B consists of Brazil, Canada, the Haudenosaunee Nationals, and Mexico.

Notable participants include several former Syracuse University players representing various national teams, including Canada, the Haudenosaunee Nationals, Puerto Rico, and the United States. The event follows a round-robin format leading into playoffs to determine gold and bronze medalists, as well as the final qualification spots.
