PAN and PRI leaders meet in Chihuahua to discuss political alliance

Leaders of the National Action Party (PAN) and the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) met in Chihuahua to explore the possibility of a political coalition. The meeting, led by PAN state leader Daniela Álvarez Hernández and PRI representative Alejandro Domínguez Domínguez, aimed to establish a joint political project to address citizen demands and create a unified front against the expansion of the Morena party in the region.

On a national level, discussions involving Alejandro Moreno and former President Vicente Fox have suggested a broader opposition strategy. This proposal seeks to expand the traditional PAN-PRI bloc to include Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) in Chihuahua and at least 14 other states where governorships and other offices are contested.

While local leaders in Chihuahua are discussing these alignments, no formal three-party agreement has been signed. The potential alliance faces challenges regarding the negotiation of candidacies, leadership control, and the distribution of political spaces as parties prepare for the 2027 electoral cycle.
