Sarawak announces multiple road infrastructure projects to boost economy

Various infrastructure projects are underway across Sarawak to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth. In the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak project, RM119 million has been allocated to upgrade the 17.1-kilometre Redline short-stretch sections. This work, involving nine locations including Lachau and Selangau, is expected to be completed by early 2028, though officials aim for an earlier finish.

In Limbang, a RM170 million road access project to Limpaku Pinang is slated for completion in 2029. The project aims to provide the riverside community with its first road access, potentially boosting tourism and local businesses due to its proximity to the Brunei border.

Additionally, the Sarikei district is planning a new connecting road, including a 4.95-kilometre Sarikei Bypass, to support the agricultural sector and improve access to suburban areas. In the Senadin constituency, RM11.4 million has been designated to rehabilitate 21 roads and upgrade street lighting, with works expected to commence in late October.
