PAN launches ‘Climate Route’ initiative in Madeira

The Pessoas - Animais - Natureza (PAN) party is launching the ‘Climate Route’ initiative in Madeira. The first event, titled ‘From Local Action to Global Impact: Climate Governance in Insular Territories’, will take place on September 17 at the Colégio dos Jesuítas in Funchal.

The meeting aims to foster debate regarding climate change and how territories can respond to extreme weather phenomena. It will bring together academics, politicians, and civil society representatives to discuss transforming global climate challenges into concrete local responses.

PAN national spokesperson Inês de Sousa Real stated that the initiative is part of a political relaunch designed to connect with populations across different regions to find efficient solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation. Mónica Freitas, spokesperson for PAN Madeira, emphasized the necessity of integrating scientific evidence into political decision-making, particularly for island territories.
