PAN begins 2027 electoral process in Tamaulipas
The National Action Party (PAN) has launched its electoral process in Tamaulipas to prepare for the 2027 elections. National president Jorge Romero Herrera has begun appointing candidates and coordinators under the title ‘Coordinators for the Defense of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty’ across various municipalities.
In Tampico, federal deputy Jesús ‘Chucho’ Nader Nasrallah has been designated as the party’s candidate for mayor, marking his third attempt at the position. This decision follows internal competition that reportedly included councilman Edmundo Marón.
In the state capital, Ciudad Victoria, the party has named Jorge Alberto ‘Tico’ García as a coordinator with the goal of unseating the current administration. Additionally, Romero Herrera has signaled that the party is open to the potential return of former governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca to the ballot, provided he expresses interest and undergoes the party’s survey-based selection process.
Other notable political movements include Senator Imelda Sanmiguel Sánchez expressing interest in the Nuevo Laredo mayoral race and the appointment of Raul García Vivian as the PAN delegation president in Reynosa.
