PAN lawmakers demand AIFA and Mexicana de Aviación be excluded from 2027 budget

Lawmakers from the National Action Party (PAN) are calling on the federal government to exclude the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) and Mexicana de Aviación from the 2027 Expenditure Budget. PAN deputies argue that these projects, described as “faraonic” whims of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, have caused significant deficits in public finances.

Deputy Daniel Chimal García noted that AIFA had a final cost of 115 billion pesos and continues to operate using federal subsidies. Legislators also highlighted other deficit-heavy projects, such as the Maya Train and the Dos Bocas refinery.

Additionally, PAN representatives Paulina Rubio and America Rangel Lorenzana called for increased oversight regarding recent renovations at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) Terminals 1 and 2. They emphasized the need to analyze renovation costs and ensure accountability for the quality of work performed ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
