PAN Chihuahua defines selection process for municipal coordinators
The National Action Party (PAN) in Chihuahua has announced a new process to define municipal coordinations for the Defense of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty. The selection will focus on five key municipalities—Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Delicias, and Parral—which represent over 70% of the state's nominal voter list.
Santiago Taboada, Secretary of Political Action for the National Executive Committee (CEN), stated that the selection will rely on both quantitative and qualitative measurements, including citizen surveys and profile evaluations. The process aims to identify candidates with high levels of public trust and competitiveness rather than mere popularity. Criteria for coordinators include the absence of criminal ties, corruption convictions, domestic or sexual violence, alimony debt, and gender-based political violence.
Results are expected to be announced during the first week of November. Amidst internal tensions, PAN parliamentary coordinator Alfredo Chávez denied allegations that Governor María Eugenia Campos is imposing candidates, asserting that party internal matters are handled independently of state government affairs.
