Claudia Sheinbaum denies political rift with AMLO during Jalisco report

During her second government report presented in Jalisco, President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed various national and regional issues. She explicitly denied rumors of a political rift between herself and former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stating, “Somos el mismo proyecto que está con el pueblo de México” (We are the same project that is with the people of Mexico).

Sheinbaum highlighted infrastructure developments in Jalisco, including the Mexico City-Guadalajara passenger train project, road modernizations, and the construction of the Amado Nervo bridge. She also reported economic data, noting a 65 percent reduction in homicides from September 2024 to June 2026 and growth in remittances.

However, the administration faced criticism from opposition leaders. PAN officials in Chihuahua described the report as a “desinforme” (misinformation), arguing it omitted critical issues such as the disappearance of persons, healthcare, and economic challenges. In Jalisco, mothers of missing persons protested during the event, seeking direct engagement regarding the ongoing disappearance crisis, which they felt was unaddressed in the President's speech.
